We now stock nautical flag numbers.

We now stock nautical flag numbers.

As of this summer, we stock the standard conical shape signal flags numbers, zero - nine.

So why are the numbered flags a different shape, you might be wondering, why are they so different from rectangular letter flags? #Wusupwitdat?

Code flag number 7

We've given a lot of thought to this and here's our theory: the original makers of signal flags (remember these were originally put together by Navy dudes) did not have access to hot pink flag material, and they could not come up with other designs that would differentiate enough between the flag meanings.

So, in order to make it easier to identify flags, the conical shape was born exclusively for numbers!

Have a different theory? Let us know what it is! We've batted this around internally and want another theory. Be in touch!
